Drè Car - 2025 GGVS Recipient
“As a film student, I’ve learned that storytelling is more than capturing moments…it’s translating emotion, truth, and lived experience into something that moves people. This scholarship has not only eased the financial weight of pursuing my dreams, but it’s also affirmed that my voice belongs in this industry. It’s a reminder that my perspective…rooted in the Bay Area, shaped by resilience, culture, and authenticity…carries power. The Golden Gate Visionary Scholarship didn’t just help me stay in school; it helped me stay inspired. Every frame I create now feels like a thank you…to those who believed in me, and to the visionaries who will come after.”

“Being awarded the Golden Gate Visionary Scholarship means the world to me. Being born in the Bay Area, but raised in the desert, I have always felt this deep longing to return to my homeland to make art, and this scholarship has allowed to me do just that. So, in some cosmic way, I feel that this was always meant to be, and I am eternally grateful.”
