Creative Arts Scholarships
The Golden Gate Visionary Scholarship (GGVS) is our flagship program, awarding tuition assistance and creative project support to exceptional students pursuing a career in filmmaking and digital storytelling. The GGVS was created to ensure that students—especially those from underserved and underrepresented communities—can access a rigorous, career-focused education in filmmaking and content creation without being held back by financial hardship.
While the GGVS is available to students residing in any part of the country, we prioritize those from the nine San Francisco Bay Area counties with the goal of supporting emerging filmmakers and digital artists whose work reflects the region’s diversity, cultural depth, and complex social landscape.
Awards are up to $15,000 per academic year, with the average being $5,000 per student. Awards can include:
- Tuition support for accredited programs at the San Francisco Film School
- Production budget for student films
- Mentorship with working filmmakers
- Showcase opportunities at film festivals and screenings
The San Francisco Film School is an accredited vocational institution whose mission is to equip students with both the technical tools and the creative confidence to forge careers in film, television, digital media, and beyond.
This GGVS is designed to empower students to tell their own stories while providing them the training and mentorship needed to turn passion into profession. We are proud to invest in young creators who not only dream boldly but also reflect the vibrant and multifaceted spirit of the Bay Area.
